Yoga Props Are Back!!

**Please read the following for all studio updates**

Okay, the wall may not be as full as the photo… but we have brought back a limited number of props for your use. And wow… we sure are feeling good about that! But even more, we’re feeling all the feels about how much all of YOU have supported us through this incredibly challenging time. As we take these small steps forward please note the following:

  • We continue to keep In-Studio classes limited in size. Be sure to register to secure your spot in the studio space. NOTE: We are returning to our policy of arriving within 5 minutes of class start time. If you are not in the studio by that time, your spot may be offered to a drop in student
  • Masks are not mandatory. We are following CDC guidelines: Not required if vaccinated, recommended if not.
  • Teachers will continue to maintain distance and refrain from hands-on assists.
  • Studio will continue to maintain stringent cleaning practices.
  • While studio props and cleaning wipes are available for use, please feel free to continue to bring your own props if you so choose!
  • We will continue with our online class offerings through the summer as we make this slow transition back to (a new) normal.

The magic of yoga is profound when practiced together and in community. We can’t wait to see more of you back in the studio and on the mat with us!!

Sticking with uncertainty is how we learn to relax in the midst of chaos, how we learn to be cool when the ground beneath us suddenly disappears. We can bring ourselves back to the spiritual path countless times every day simply by exercising our willingness to rest in the uncertainty of the present moment–over and over again. ~ Pema Chodron, Comfortable with Uncertainty

Namaste’

Pema Chordron speaks so well about uncertainty, much better than I can. So with that I open this email with her words as we move into another phase of uncertainty. Today we were informed that someone who has been to the studio in the past week has tested positive for COVID-19. With this information, we have decided to err on the side of caution.

The Yoga Sanctuary will be closed to In-Studio visits until Sunday, August 23rd.

Please know that all ONLINE classes will continue uninterrupted. As will our upcoming events.
During this time, our teachers will be leading classes from home as they have in the past. We are confident, because of the procedures we have in place, that we are as protected as we can be. Our regular cleaning, mask requirement, and the space maintained between all at the studio puts us at minimum risk. However, we feel strongly that it is our responsibility to pass this information on to you and to put our beautiful space into a short 17-day quarantine.

Please join us on your mat and from the safety of your home.

With much love,
Jennifer and All of Us at The Yoga Sanctuary
ONLINE CLASS EMAILS
We are always trying to make your online class experience smooth and easy. In doing so, we’ve made a change in who will be sending you your links! Going forward look for an email from The Yoga Sanctuary! The address itself will read: no-reply@apiant.com. Be sure to put us in your contacts so that you never miss your class links!

We’ve been getting your calls, reading your emails, and loving seeing your faces as a few of you have dropped by to check in on us. We’ve been busy painting, fixing, organizing, cleaning, and planning! And finally, we’re ready to say…

~~WE ARE REOPENING OUR DOORS~~
Yes! Our doors reopen to you on Monday, June 1st. And we can not wait to see you!

We’ll be proceeding slowly and embracing the yogic understanding of vinyasa krama. Vinyasa krama is defined as a wise, gradual, and purposeful step-by-step progression. TKV Desikachar described it as “a fundamental concept in yoga having to do with constructing a gradual and intelligent course for our practice. The concept of Vinyasa Krama is useful as a guide for carrying out not only our yoga practice but also all the tasks of everyday life.” Learn more about how our vinyasa krama approach to reopening below.

We are so grateful for the support and concern that you have all showed us over these past 10 weeks. Our heart is full and we can’t wait to see you, no matter where you are!

With so much love,
Jennifer and ALL OF US at The Yoga Sanctuary

The Yoga Sanctuary Phase I Reopening Plan

  1. During the TYS Phase I of Reopening, most in-studio classes will be hybrid classes. This means that the in-studio class will also be taught online. Classes will read on the schedule in this way:
    1. ONLINE: Online only. If you register for this class, you are participating from home.
    2. IN STUDIO+: Online with in-studio participation. If you register for this class, you are participating in the studio and that same class is being live streamed online.
    3. IN STUDIO ONLY: In-studio only, no online participation. If you register for this class, you are participating in studio and there is no live streaming online.
  2. Our in-studio class schedule will be kept small and grow accordingly over the next number of weeks.
  3. Class sizes will be kept small (starting at 6 people) in order to maintain recommended distance between mats.
    1. We highly recommend preregistering for class to ensure your spot.
    2. During this time, preregistration is limited to a 10 day period. This means you can register for your classes up to 10 days prior to any class.
    3. If unable to attend a class that you registered for, please remember to cancel your reservation at a minimum of 3 hours before the class. Remember, your reservation holds a spot in the room that could then go to another.
    4. You may drop-in, but we cannot guarantee a space for you when you arrive.
    5. If a class you would like to attend is listed as ‘full,’ please register to be on the wait list. You will receive an email and/or text if someone cancels.
  4. Studio doors will open 15-minutes before class start time and close 15-minutes after class ends. If you arrive early, we ask that you wait in your vehicle until the appropriate time.
  5. Please bring any props that you may use in your practice. Studio props will not be available for use in this phase of reopening. This includes mats. If you are in need of props, please let us know. The TYS Boutique is fully stocked with props for purchase.
  6. Masks are not required, but recommended. Teachers and staff will be wearing masks before and after class. Teachers will remove masks while teaching. However, teachers will remain on their mats and not be moving about the studio space while teaching.
  7. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the studio space. Surfaces will be cleaned regularly, and a thorough studio cleaning will be done before and after each class.

Our main goal is, as always, to create a space where all feel welcome, safe, and supported. We are excited to see you, but respect that some of you may not be ready to return. We honor that and will continue to offer our full online schedule through the month of June and perhaps beyond.

With that…please click below for our TYS Phase I Reopening Class Schedule!

What Comes Next?
When Are You Re-Opening?
What’s the Plan?

These are just a few of the questions that we’ve been getting recently.

We want to take a moment to give you an idea of what we are thinking.

At this very moment, we are hearing musing about potential re-openings of gyms, dance studios, and – yes, yoga studios! Our main goal, even before this new era of COVID-19, has always been to keep our community safe and healthy. With that in mind, we plan to continue our full schedule of online classes, at the very least, through the end of June and into July, potentially even through the end of the summer. If we are given the go-ahead, we may open the studio to a limited number of small group classes. We see this first stage of re-opening including in-person participation in our online class schedule. We are currently putting together a full procedural plan and will keep you updated as that comes together in a way that supports a healthy and safe re-opening of our doors.

But in the end, we can not wait to see you all again – live and in person.
Much love…
Jennifer and All of Us at The Yoga Sanctuary

Namaste’

We miss you.

Yet at the same time, it has been truly amazing and uplifting to be with so many of you in our online platform. Many of us teachers have shared with each other that we are moved to tears – sometimes by grief for all that is happening, but more often by joy as we continue to connect and support each other every single day. It has most definitely been a roller-coaster of emotion for all of us.

So much continues to happen at the TYS as we plan and prepare for the days ahead. We have a number of great workshops planned for you – READ HERE – and will continue to create dynamic programs to support you in your practice. Many of you have reached out to inquire if our online classes will continue. Our main focus, of course, has been to do all that we can to get our current schedule up and running smoothly. We are just now shifting gears to explore that possibility. How wonderful it would be to maintain connection with those of you that leave us each summer! There are some logistical and behind-the-scenes issues that need to be worked out, but YES, our hope is to continue to offer this option. We can’t say right now what that will look like, but with fingers crossed and eyes open… you will be the first to know!

With so much love,
Jennifer and ALL OF US at The Yoga Sanctuary

We’ve been so busy here at the studio lately; busy trying to navigate this new emerging world we are finding ourselves in… Throughout this whole process our one main goal has been to find ways to support you in your practice. Our Prop Wall: Before

Our Prop Wall: After

Dearest TYS students and sangha,

It is time to update everyone on our second stage of coronovirus, COVID-19, precautions.

After much thought and consideration we have decided to add the following to our ongoing protocols:
  1. PROPS & MATS: As mentioned in our last email, ALL props have been removed from the studio and are being sanitized. Please BRING YOUR OWN MAT to any classes that you attend. If there are other props that you use in your practice, please bring them with you. We will be a no prop studio for the time being. Once props are returned to the studio, you are welcome to use them. However, please bring a towel to cover any bolster, block, or blanket use. Our Prop Wall: After
  2. CLASS SIZE: We are reducing the maximum capacity in all of our classes. Classes held in the upstairs studio will have a maximum of 7 people. Classes held in the downstairs studio will have a maximum of 15 people. Please preregister to ensure your spot. NOTE: All preregistered spots will be held up to 5-minutes before class start time. If you are not there by that time, your spot will be given to a walk-in student. And remember – bring your mat!
  3. CLASS SCHEDULE: Effective Tuesday, March 16th at noon (12pm), we are returning to our off-season schedule. Please always check the online schedule to be sure the class you are hoping to attend is current. NOTE: If you have registered for a class that is no longer on the schedule, you will receive a cancellation notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.
  4. WORKSHOPS & EVENTS: As of today, all events are as scheduled. That may change. If you have registered for an upcoming event, please watch your email for any schedule changes.

Ongoing procedural changes and enhancements:

  1. Suspending hands-on assists.
  2. Pausing our complimentary tea service.

What we ask for from you:
  1. Please bring your own mat, and any other prop you might need.
  2. Please wash hands before and after class.
  3. If you are feeling unwell or have recently felt unwell, please choose to stay home.
  4. If you live with someone that is feeling unwell, please choose to stay home.
We will continue to keep you updated and informed. Our promise is to stay present and committed to walking this path with you. Be well.

Two hands together, chin to chest, and with much love…

Friday, March 13, 2020

Dear TYS students and sangha,

Just as we know you are, The Yoga Sanctuary is closely watching the shifts and turns that are occurring around the Coronavirus, COVID-19. Much seems to have changed over the past few days and we feel your concerns deeply.

At this time, The Yoga Sanctuary does not intend to close, and our schedule of events will proceed as is on our website. Our hope is to continue to provide a space to be mindful, find stillness, and be present in the midst of these challenges.

With that said, we have put into place a number of procedures and have enhanced those that are part of our daily routines.

We are for the foreseeable future:

  1. Suspending hands-on assists.
  2. Pausing our complimentary tea service.
  3. Boosting our regular cleaning procedures to include staff hand washing before and after class, regular cleaning of all surfaces and door knobs, to mention just a few.
  4. Pausing the regular use of props. This includes eye pillows and mats. Following Jennifer’s return on Monday, March 16th all props will be removed from the studio to be sanitized. Please bring your own mat and any other props you use in your practice. When props are returned to the studio, use will be optional.

What we ask for from you:

  1. Please bring your own mat.
  2. Please wash hands before and after class.
  3. If you are feeling unwell or have recently felt unwell, please choose to stay home.
  4. If you live with someone that is feeling unwell, please choose to stay home.

What we hope that we all can remember in the midst of this challenging time is not to come from a place of fear, but from a place of concern for ourselves and our community.

Please let us know of any concerns you may have. We are here for you.

Two palms together and with great love,

All of Us at The Yoga Sanctuary
